A Bit About Us

Thrift Landscapes is a collaboration between RHS award winning garden designers Caitlin and Tessa McLaughlin. We work closely with clients and contractors on both large and small garden projects to create beautiful and personal spaces.

Environmental impact and wildlife conservation is an important element woven into each design, enabling the harmonious collaboration between our clients and nature.

View Past Projects
Working together with you we aim to create beautiful garden spaces for you to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a completely new garden design, a planting plan, or consultation on a small section of your garden we are happy to help you make your plans a reality. Based in Northamptonshire, we work with both private and commercial clients across the UK.

The Process:

Initial Consultation
During this meeting we would discuss your ideas and plans for your garden space whilst giving us the opportunity to see the site. We would then produce a written brief from this meeting if you wish to commission a design.
Site Survey
A survey of the garden would be undertaken as this will form the basis of the entire design process.
Initial Design Proposal
We will pitch design ideas in a follow up meeting, all of which are based on the written brief and your requirements. This is a great opportunity to discuss the designs we have created, and to suggest modifications to develop them as we move forward.
Final Design and Master Plan
We will produce a final design, based on the written brief and previous meetings initial designs. This will be accompanied by a Master Plan detailing every detail of the design, construction diagrams, elevation plans, and information on key plants used. All of this will be used by constructors when making the design a reality.
Planting Plan
A detailed planting plan can be produced to accompany your final design. We can also create these for your existing garden if you are interested in changing your current planting scheme, and can be undertaken after a consultation meeting.
Although we do not carry out the construction, we are happy to recommend contractors and tender quotes, helping you to pick a team you are confident with. We can advise throughout the build and supervise the creation of our design.

We offer a biodiversity consultancy service, providing information and advice on incorporating and establishing wildflower populations and wildlife habitats in landscape design. Utilising our background in Plant Genetic Resources and Conservation, we combine this with design to create sustainable and biodiverse spaces that benefit both people and nature.
